Healing Waters Parish is a four-congregation partnership of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America serving Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. The four churches in Healing Waters are Augustana Lutheran of Clarkfield, Bergen Lutheran of rural Granite Falls, St. Lucas Lutheran of rural Cottonwood, and Yellow Medicine Lutheran of Hanley Falls.
This summer Healing Waters Parish hosted a Vacation Bible School Day Camp through Green Lake Lutheran Ministries. The theme was God-on the Loose! "Look at the nations, and see! Be astonished! Be astounded! For a work is being done in your days, that you would not believe if you were told."
Throughout the week, the youth did Bible studies, worship, music, crafts, and games that will help kids see God at work in their daily lives.
Day camp wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing helpers! A big thank you goes to Angie Thostenson, Joyce Gregg, Sue Nelson, Alison Bakklund and everyone who provided bars and snacks. It is greatly appreciated!
God calls us to mission and ministry in our rural prairie communities and to the world. Gathered in faith and nurtured by Word and Sacrament, we commit ourselves to share a hope for the future, to use our resources and talents guided by the Holy Spirit, and to work together to expand our ministry to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ.
The name "Healing Waters Parish" was chosen because each church is in Yellow Medicine County. "Yellow medicine" plants, which grow by the flowing waters of the Yellow Medicine River, were used by the Dakota for their healing powers. In the waters of baptism we are nourished, healed, and restored; we invite and encourage you to join our healing parish.
